Wheat

Wheat has been a staple of human’s diet for thousands of years, wheat is one of the most important foods we can grow. Unfortunately, many of us have no relationship with this wonderful grain. The only way we encounter it is at the end of the processing line – either in baked goods or in the form of flour. It’s a wonderful and easy crop to grow that doesn’t require much maintenance to give you much rewards.

Millet

Millet is a warm season annual seed crop. Millet performs or grows best in well drained soils. This seed is a great choice for dove fields, duck plots, quail, turkey, pheasant, deer, food plots, and exotic bird feed. Brown top Millet can sprout within five days of moisture, and is also used as a cover crop or nurse grass for permanent or perennial grass plantings.

Millet is well adapted to marshes and areas of standing water that sustain water-loving plants such as cattail, sedge, arrowhead, bulrush and native grasses. Sedge meadows, wet meadows, prairie potholes and shallow wetlands are kinds of marshes where Cattail Millet will grow.

Oats

It is believed oats first were grown by ancient Slavic peoples during the Bronze Age and the Iron Age. Oats were grown for grain and for animal feed in Asia Minor during the early Christian era. In central Europe, oats have been used for centuries. Oatmeal came to be an important food in areas with cool, moist climates suitable for growing oats, particularly Scotland. Today, oats are grown in practically every country in the world. Total world production has been about 2.5 billion bushels in recent years.
